breaking news
The Texarkana, Texas Independent School District has a new leader after the resignation last night from the superintendent. The school board accepted Dr. Larry Sullivans resignation and named the deputy superintendent, James Henry Russell as interim. Russell has worked in the district for 13-years. At this time, he is the lone applicant to take over Sullivans seat. Russell says his plans are to continue moving the district forward.
"Its quite an honor for me to have the Board of Trustees to have faith to be named interim superintendant. Weve talked alot about T.I.S.D and right now T.I.S.D, in the area of academics, facilities and financially, have never been stronger. And in the history of the school district, were just doing so well in all those areas."
Russell will be announced as the lone applicant at a joint news conference being held at the Chamber of Commerce. At that time, the city will name Dr. Sullivan as the new city manager for Texarkana, Texas
