Senior Safety In Webster Parish

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Ground work is being laid for a new community service program aimed at keeping senior citizens safe in Webster Parish. Technically, it goes by the name "Community Assistance Response System." but you could just call it a good idea. C.A.R.S. will be available for seniors, 65-years or older, who live by themselves in the parish. A computerized system will place calls to individuals who are part of the program. If the call is not answered, the computer will call again. If it is still unanswered, a call will be placed to a friend or family member of that person and if that attempt is unsuccessful then the Sheriff`s office will try to contact or locate the individual. The call system will be controlled by the Webster Parish 9-1-1 computers. The program will be launched in the rural areas first with hopes larger cities like Minden and Springhill will pick it up. The Community Assistance Response System needs your help. If that sounds like something you can do, call 377-0394.
