"I've learned alot from up here," said Honore. "I've learned what it means to open up to a stranger. I belong to Shreveport now."
One of the programs that helped Honore establish herself in the Port City was Volunteers of America's Hurricane Case Management Program works to assess client's needs and look for resources to help them recover.
"There is still a need, and we are excited to help the evacuees for the long run," said Assistant Supervisor Jeanette Horning.
VOA staffers call Honore a "jetsetter" and say she's been active in helping herself.
Through grants, they've helped Honore get a much-needed scooter and a van. Honore had to attend classes and show financial responsibility.
