Category 1 Hurricane Winds and the Arklatex

The maps on this page will display examples of the Maximum
Envelope Of Winds (MEOW). Each map displays the maximum sustained wind for a category 1 hurricane (as measured by the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale) and
forward motion of a typical hurricane.
This maps shows the max winds for a category 1 storm moving inland at 8 kts. Notice tropical storm force winds probably won't make it to the I-20 corridor.
This maps shows the max winds for a category 1 storm moving inland at 12 kts. Notice tropical storm force winds (light blue area) can be expected as far north as the AR-LA border.
This maps shows the max winds for a category 1 storm moving inland at 16 kts. Notice that tropical storm force winds will be felt across the entire area.
This maps shows the max winds for a category 1 storm moving inland at 20 kts. The dark blue band shows that the 58 mph winds can be expected over the southern third of the area.
This maps shows the max winds for a category 1 storm moving inland at 25 kts. In this cast 58 mph winds will be felt as far north as Mansfield and Carthage.
