Services were held Tuesday for Bowie County Deputy Michael Page. The 34-year-old was killed in the line of duty last weekend.
His death is the first for Bowie County since the 1960s. Tuesday, hundreds gathered to pay final respects, Law Enforcement from across the Ark-La-Tex came to honor one of their own.
"We are just going to have to pull through this, it is a tough memory but we also have good memories," said Sheriff James Prince.
Page was called "The Funny Guy", he leaves behind a wife and three children. His goal as a deputy was to provide safety for the citizens in the county.
"Well never know why Wakefield had to take two lives, that will never be answered, only God and Wakefield know."
The why and how of Pages death still hard to understand but one thing is certain, his efforts wont be forgotten.
A final good bye for Deputy Michael Page in all its glory.
Page died early Saturday morning during an altercation with a suspect in New Boston, Texas. The suspect also killed himself.
