Sedestini Fields started dancing when she was five. Today she dreams of a career as a professional dancer. It's a dream that's possible thanks to “Make A Difference Dance, Inc.”  The program provides free ballet lessons for underprivileged children.

"Ballet is something you have to get when you're really young because your body has to grow into it," said Terry Jackson, owner of Christian Dance Center and founder of “Make A Difference Dance, Inc.”

As a child Jackson says she missed out on that window of opportunity. She started “Make A Difference Dance, Inc.” so other kids would have the chance she never got.

"I don't want to see that happen to other young people aspiring to be dancers," she added.

Shikira Flounory is growing up in a single parent home. For her the free lessons really do make a difference.

"It helps out a lot and it's a blessing for me to not have to pay for something that I really, really love to do," Flounory said.

Fields added, "It gives us something positive and something fun to motivate us and gives us good self esteem."

Just another way “Make A Difference Dance, Inc.” really is making a difference.

Proceeds from "Dancing with the Stars of Shreveport" help fund "Make A Difference, Inc."  The show is Saturday, October 25th at 7 p.m. at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport. Tickets are available at the door.
