The Board of Aldermen in the town of Delcambre want to nip saggy pants in the bud before it becomes a bigger problem. Delcambre is a small town about 25 miles south of Lafayette. The board voted unanimously this week in favor of an ordinance that outlaws indecency resulting from a person who wears pants that sag to the extent that a person's private areas or underwear are exposed in public. Violators face up to six months in jail, a $500 fine, or both. The ordinance is expected to take effect in less than two weeks.
