Water Woes In Dixie Inn Nearing An End

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The water woes in one Webster Parish village will soon be problems of the past. All thanks to some grant money from the Louisiana Governor`s office. Residents in Dixie Inn should soon see improvement in water flowing from the tap. A nearly 250,000 dollar Community Block Grant will fund the construction of a water treatment facility for the village`s water system. Just over a year ago a new well was dug but it isn`t being used because of the water`s odor. It contains organic matter that can`t be treated by the existing plant. Mayor Ava McWhorter says the grant was needed and she`s ready to see work on the new facility begin. That should happen within the next two months.
