Fort Polk Soldier Dies In Iraq

Schumannphoto2007-05-22-1179871177.jpgA soldier from a west Louisiana base has been killed in a roadside bombing in Iraq, the Department of Defense confirmed Tuesday. Twenty-three-year-old Sergeant Jason A. Schumann of Hawley, Minnesota, died May 19 when an explosive device detonated near his convoy in Ad Diwaniyah, military officials said. Schumann was assigned to the Third Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, Fourth Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk near Leesville.
