Mourners said their final goodbyes at St. Berchmans Cathedral before Holoubek was taken to Forest Park Cemetery to rest. Holoubek, a founder of the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, was a respected physician and award-winning author who had lived in Shreveport since 1945. In that time, he practiced medicine for more than 40 years in addition to writing nearly 50 compositions on topics ranging from cardiology to ethics. He also helped found the St. Joesph Catholic Church. Houloubek died Thursday of a sudden illness at the age of 91.
