Authorities Want To Change Enforcement Of Building Codes

Lawmakers enforced stricter building codes across the state. Builders in rural parts of the state didnt follow many rules before then. Now there are regulations on construction there as well. Parish attorney Patrick Jackson says the building codes put into place to protect the southern part of the state are too strict for the rest of it. Jackson says the new building codes created a need for more home inspectors. And he tells us there are not enough to go around. Jackson wants legislators to change the way the building codes are being enforced.
