When the movie industry exploded in Northwest Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, hundreds flocked to casting calls and movie sets to experience the glamour of being a movie extra. After months of the business, area seniors are establishing themselves as dependable and necessary extras. During a filming of
Stephen King's "The Mist", a core group of seniors worked for more than 20 days on the set. "I just sat there with my eyes big watching those cameras," said extra Edie Foy Hucklebridge. "What an experience."
If you are an extra, you need to expect to be there for the entire 12-15 hour day, plus bring at least 3 sets of clothes for that day. For more information, contact
local casting companies.
