No Threats Allowed

Over two years ago, one local high school teacher who asked not to identified, was threatened by two students. She says the teenagers were exchanging information about her on an internet blog. The teacher feared for her life and says she told school administrators what was going on. The teacher told KTAL that she was "thinking that something would be done, that something would come of this, thinking the students would be suspended, thinking they might be expelled." But she says nothing was done about the threats. Because of such incidents, State Representative Mike Powell came up with the idea to have the theat prohibition enacted into law. The bill passed and now if a student threatens a teacher, he or she will be taken out of the classroom and possibly the school. The new legislation also allows prosecutors to build a case against students who threaten teachers.
