ArkLaTex Dodges Weather Bullet

Updated: April 16, 2007
The ArkLaTex apparently escaped the worst of the storm that blew through Texas and Louisiana Friday, with just a few reports of minor damage in the local area.
High winds, heavy rain and some damaging hail swept through east Texas, northwest Louisiana, southwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma, but no reports of serious injuries or damage were logged by the National Weather Service in Shreveport.
Between 9 and 10 pm, 1.75 inch hail was reported in Mineola and golf ball sized hail came down in Quitman, Texas.

Earlier in the day, one inch hail was reported in Howard County in Arkansas and Webster, Union and Winn Parishes in Louisiana. And in Wood County in Texas, 1 ¾ inch hail was reported. In Mineral Springs, there was a report of a tree downed in the police chiefs front yard. It was a different story in Dallas where one man was killed and five  people injured during the storms. At least one tornado roared through the Dallas-Fort Worth area, leaving behind heavy property damage.
