Bossier City authorities called a press conference Thursday, to share more information on the disappearance of Mary Byrne Smith. Smith was last seen at the CenturyTel center March 24th while attending a religious event. Thursday Bossier Police Chief Mike Halphen told reporters Smith failed a drug test back in February and was released from her teaching job. Halphen also said they had received information that Smith told her own children she was a bad parent. The police department now thinks it is possible Smith left on her own, but will continue to look into the possibility of foul play. Halphen said Smith has not committed any crime and if she is capable they would like her to call them or her husband.
