Bossier Parish Bans Cockfighting

Local Louisiana Parishes are taking a stand against cockfighting. Just this week, Bossier Parishs police jury passed an ordinance banning it in the parish even though the event is still legal in the state. Just last week New Mexico banned the so called sport, making Louisiana the only place that allows it. But Bossier parish officials are hoping that this new law will help change that. Caddo Parish banned cockfighting about a year ago. Now, Bossier Parish is following their lead. On Wednesday the Bossier Parish police jury passed a law, making cockfighting illegal. Under the new law, violators could be fined up to $500 and face up to six months in jail.
