Spring has sprung and Jeff Carr is hoping his son didnt inherit his allergy attacks. "Headaches, stuffy head, sore throat at night, actually first thing in the morning,” explained Jeff Carr, allergy sufferer. Even though you may like the sites and sounds of the season, Dr. Boggs says many people are suffering. Thats because the pollen count is sky high 5000 plus for Thursday, and high is considered over 1500. "Its primarily oak, a lot of people see the pine trees around and yellow stuff on the cars but most of that yellow is oak pollen. Its very deceptive because the oak pollen is very small and you dont see it by itself,” said Dr. Peter Boggs, Asthma and Allergy Clinic. Allergy suffers usually turn to over the counter medications to help the symptoms, but when those dont work its time to see the doctor. "When things are getting uncomfortable for them, when those medications are not working it begins to interfere with how they want to live and how they want to feel then that is the time to see the allergist,” admitted Dr. Boggs. Peak allergy season is March, April and May which means Carr has some time to figure out how to stop rubbing his eyes but until then medication and his allergy shot will hopefully bring some relief. "It seems to be a lot worse this year than it has been in the past. Waking up in the middle of the night, just draining, its bad."
