After four days on the run a Texarkana man accused of going on a massive crime spree is behind bars. Police say he turned himself in after seeing himself on the KTAL newscasts.
Cornelius Morgan is at the Caddo Correctional Center waiting to be extradited back to Texarkana. He`s accused of breaking into a home last week and trying to assault a 16-year old girl. Police say he is responsible for several other "home invasions".
Officers are glad to have him back in custody. "We`re just very happy to get him in custody before something worse happened, before he was responsible for something more serious," said Officer Chris Rankin, spokesman for the Texarkana, AR Police Department.
The father of the 16 year old girl, John Jackson, said that Morgan`s attack has changed the way he lives now. "I can`t leave my door unlocked anymore," he said Monday morning after hearing that Morgan turned himself in.
Jackson and his son got a chance to exact some revenge on Morgan before he fled. "My 14 year old son, who is taller than I am, was just wailing away on him. I couldn`t believe he was just standing there," Jackson said. Morgan was probably looking for his car keys that he dropped. Leaving his vehicle behind, police say he busted into another home and changed clothes.
Morgan is also accused of stealing another car and then robbing the Lucky Penny Arcade on Friday.
