Once a criminal is arrested many of us believe they are no longer a threat to the public While that is partly true, a group of prison officers at a training program in bossier Wednesday would disagree. The program was part of a week long training effort to better equip corrections officers on how to deal with real life prison violence. Tactical expert Dave Young has been training corrections officers on how to be mentally prepared when encountering unruly inmates. Young says if officers aren’t mentally prepared to deal with face to face confrontations with prisoners than they can be injured or even killed. “When these guys are called to regain order inside of a prison it’s real business”. In fact Young Says it’s a lot like war at times. “There’s a good chance these officers know they might not come out.” Wednesday’s training exercise was attended by corrections officers from all over the state including some of the largest prisons, like Angola State Prison.
