Louisiana Trooper arrested; bond $250K

NBC6 News sister station, NBC10 News in Monroe reports Louisiana State Police have confirmed the arrest of a state trooper.

The arrest report says 42-year-old Ronald Thomas was arrested and charged with public payroll fraud, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, distribution of cocaine, malfeasance in office and obstruction of justice.

Thomas was arrested without incident around 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, and booked into Ouachita Correction Center with a bond of $250,000.

The arrest report says Louisiana State Polie Region 2 Criminal Investigation started an investigation on Thomas n June 2012. The co-defendant also was arrested. The report states the co-defendant confirmed to investigators he and Thomas distributed a large quantity of cocaine within Ouachita Parish over a two-year-period.

Thomas tipped off the co-defendant that the State Police were investigating him.and instructed persons involved to destroy evidence and get rid of the money.
