More businesses coming to south Bossier?

By: Kimberly Rusley
Updated: March 18, 2013

Since the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway extension has opened, more land can be turned into commercial property and residential areas.

Crews are already clearing out this section behind the Plantation Trace subdivision.

Rocky Rockett with the Greater Bossier Economic Development says he's been in talks with some developers, but no businesses have made solid plans to build along the parkway just yet.

There are some restrictions though. You have the Red River to the west of the parkway, along with the wildlife refuge.

Tom Carlton, Former Chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College, lives in Plantation Trace. Carlton says he's excited about the possibility of businesses setting up shop in south Bossier.

He says if stores open their doors near his neighborhood, that means residents won't have to drive to Airline Drive or Youree Drive in Shreveport to shop.
