School bus accident leaves one person seriously injured

A school bus driver is in the hospital after an early morning accident in South Shreveport.

The wreck happened shortly after 7 a.m. near Caddo Middle Magnet in the 7600 block of Cornelious Lane.

Authorities said the bus came in contact with a steel gate while dropping students off in front of the school.

The bus driver is undergoing surgery on his foot at LSU Health Center. He is in serious condition.

Three students who were on the bus at the time of the accident also suffered minor injuries.
