Shreveport Community Church's founder has died

NBC 6 News has learned Pastor Rodney Duron passed away Saturday morning at the age of 88. 

For more than a half-century, Duron preached the gospel in Shreveport, beginning in the 50's when he and his wife, Frances, started their ministry at First Assembly of God in Cedar Grove. 

The church later moved to Youree Drive in South Shreveport and then to its present location as Shreveport Community Church on Buncombe Road.  Duron also was the founder of Evangel Christian Academy. 

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rose Neath Funeral Home's Southside Chapel on Mansfield Road in Shreveport.  

The visitation will be held Monday, March 18th from 3-7pm.  His funeral is Tuesday, March 19th at 4pm.  Both will be held at Shreveport Community Church.
