City of Shreveport and the fight to keep sewer rates down...

When it rains it pours, but for the city of Shreveport the problems aren't always obvious.
"Most of our infrastructure is thousands of miles of pipeline underground," Barbara Featherston with Shreveport's Water and Sewerage said.
The city has been in violation of the Clean Water Act for years.
Technically the city could be fined more than $25,000 a day, btu they're working on a timetable with the EPA and are currently in negotiations.
It'll cost $250,000,000 to make repairs, and if the city doesn't bridge a gap, rates will increase.
It's prompted Shreveport City Councilwoman Rose McCulloch to put a resolution in the hands of state law makers asking for help from the Federal government.
"Of course the citizens can't afford for rates to go up. There's enough cuts being made," McCulloch said.
