Village Water System issues partial boil advisory
By: Nancy Cook
Updated: March 14, 2013
The advisory includes areas extending from Village water customers on Winfield road from Smith Circle going east to Princeton Road. This includes Full wood Road and Cooper Drive, but does not include Princeton Road.
The advisory is in place due to an emergency repair on the main water line that feeds certain areas, causing water to be turned off.
It is recommended that all customers indicated above disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
- Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
- The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that has been boiled.
Upon notification from the Office of Public Health's State Regional Labratory that the samples collected for the water supply have been found to be safe, the State Health Department will notify the water supply of the sample results, and subsequently, the Village Water System will rescind the Boil Advisory and notify customers.
