A 22-year-old
Shreveport man today was sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter in
the death of Kevin Powell by Caddo Parish District Court Judge Craig Marcotte
today.
Deangilo L. White was sentenced 40 years in prison for manslaughter for the
2009 shooting death of Kevin Powell, following a fight outside a residence in
the 700 block of Bringhurst. Although charged with second degree murder, it
took a Caddo jury only an hour of deliberation to find White guilty of the
lesser manslaughter charge.
Caddo Parish Judge
Craig Marcotte ordered White to serve the sentence without benefit of parole,
probation or suspension of
sentence.
Prosecuting
the case were Caddo Parish ADAs Dale Cox and Sarah Midboe, while local attorney
Richard Goorley was White's defense lawyer.
