Two U.S. service members were killed and eight others wounded after a possible insider attack at a military site in Afghanistan.

Monday morning a man dressed in Afghan police clothing entered a meeting and opened fire on coalition and Afghan forces.

The shooting happened at a U.S. special operations outpost in Wardak.

A senior official in the Afghan Defense Ministry said that at least three Afghans were also killed.

The shooter was also killed in the attack.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a text message sent by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

According to U.S. officials today's incident marks the first time Americans have been killed by enemy contact in Afghanistan since Jan. 7.
