Shreveport Convention Center filling up with a variety of events

Business is booming at the Shreveport Convention Center.  This past weekend, the NAACP held its regional Crime Conference; while the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier held its biggest fundraiser -- "Shopping for a Cause."

The convention center's general manager, Sam Voisin, says they've hosted nine events in the past week, and have seen a 90% utilization rate recently.  This means they're booked at nearly full capacity.  On average, the convention center usually runs at about 70 - 80%.

Voisen believes a focused sales effort where staff made 2,100 calls to clients is finally bearing fruit.
