COLUMBUS, Ga. - Opening up the NFCA Top 25 Tournament with the first game of the day, #25 East Texas Baptist University had the first upset with a 3-2 win over #10 Central College (IA) in nine innings.  ETBU is now 9-0 and will face Piedmont College at 4:30 p.m.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, playing with the international tie breaker rule, Kelsey DeCarolis put down a bunt and then ran through first baseman's glove as the ball was dropped to score the winning run.  Christy Dowdy was the winning run coming in from second base.

In the fourth inning, ETBU tied the game at two when Tawny Hank doubled to right field that scored Lacy Liles.  ETBU scored the first run of the game in third inning for a 1-0 lead when Lya Swaner came in on a rundown when Central tried throwing out Alyssa Romero.  Central took the one-run lead in the fourth inning scoring one run on a hit and the other on a walk.  In the fifth inning, Kelly Jo McLendon came in with one out which led to a double-play ball to end the inning.  McClendon went 4.2 innings for her second win of the year.

ETBU will play Piedmont College next at 4:30 p.m.
