A member of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department spent the morning reading to a group of first graders.
Friday Dep. Lennis Lyles read books to a class at T.L. Rodes Elementary in Haughton.
The event was tied to Read across America, which promotes reading to children and is held annually around March 1, Dr. Seuss' birthday.
Dr. Seuss is best known for writing children's books such as "Green Eggs and Ham", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Cat in the Hat."
