A group of Bossier residents can better protect themselves after learning how to properly handle a weapon.

Tuesday night they took part in the Handgun Safety & Familiarization course offered by the Bossier Sheriff's Office.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said, "Our range instructors have a combined total of more than 100 years of firearms training experience and I want to share that knowledge with our residents so they can feel safe and confident when it comes to handling a firearm."

The next class will be held on April 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is free of charge to Bossier residents 21 years of age and older.

If you want to sign up call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at (318) 965-3525.
