For some, gambling can become an addiction just like drugs and alcohol is for others.
Overcoming any kind of addiction often requires special kinds of treatment, and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is raising awareness of these kinds of services for National problem Gambling Awareness Week. Part of that campaign is preventing the state's youth from getting involved in under-age gambling. A 2010 survey found that 40% of 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th graders had tried some sort of gambling.
If you or a loved one is having a problem, Shreveport offers one of the first publicly-funded residential treatment centers called CORE or Center of Recovery. Click here for more information.
