March is Red Cross Month and it's the perfect time for you to give back to your community.

Red Cross officials say now is the time to take a CPR course, make a donation or volunteer your time.

During the month of March the Red Cross will recognize supporters who have made it possible for the organization to respond to disasters.

The Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross also wants to raise awareness of the lifesaving services provided by the chapter and encourage you to be prepared in the case of an emergency.

Reid Brau, Executive Director of the Northwest Louisiana Chapter said, "The Red Cross works tirelessly to be there with help and hope when people need it most-and we are grateful for the public support that enables us to continue our work here at home and abroad."

Nationwide, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, comfort and hope to survivors of nearly 70,000 disasters each year.
