Tuesday Night the school's Board of Trustees voted to increase tuition, adding $475,000 to next year's budget.
But how do students feel about it?
Texarkana College is a popular choice for many.
"My mom went here, my sister went here and so I just thought it was the best place to keep the family tradition going," said first semester student Bethani Snider.
Shardell Torrence, who's been going to the school for the past two years loves the school.
"I like it here. The tuition is great, it was real low so it was fine with me."
And some are already looking ahead to the future.
"I have brothers and sisters, and I'd love to see them go here and I actually have a niece that will start here next fall."
But with the new school year, comes big change.
During Tuesday's meeting, it was voted on unanimously that in-district students would see almost a $30 increase, while those out-of-district would see a hike of about $90. Non-resident students will also see a raise in tuition of about $77.
Some of the students have mixed opinions about the matter.
Torrense sees it both ways.
"I think if they're going to increase tuition, they should at least get some of the activities back. But with sa lot of students coming I think it's okay to increase tuition. I hope it does good things for the school, improve the school in the areas that need improving the most, so the students can see their money going to good use for those who pay out of pocket."
Snider says tuition is already high.
"We have to drive everyday because we can't afford housing on top of tuition and books. My total for everything was a little over $1,700 just in tuition alone. And then books on top of that were about $800-$900."
But they both say, that they'll do what's best for them, no matter the cost.
"I think it's good and bad, so I'm just going to keep going to Texarkana College and I'm not going to change schools because I like it here," says Torrence.
"(The tuition increase) won't change the college because the college isn't based on the tuition. It's based on the people and the teachers that do it."
The tuition increase will go into effect for the 2013-2014 school year.
