East Texas teen locked up for bringing gun to school

A Marshall high school student has been arrested for allegedly carrying a handgun in his backpack.

Monday morning Jawone Washington, 18, was taken into custody after an off duty police officer found a 9mm gun and a magazine with ammunition in his backpack.

Washington was booked into the Harrison County Jail for Places Weapons Prohibited, which is a 3rd degree felony.  He could get up to 10 years in jail and be fined up to $10,000.
