A group of hardworkers came together with one mission, letting those serving our country know they're not forgotten.

Saturday morning, Shreveport's "Operation Support Our Troops" packaged goodies to send to those fighting for our nation overseas.

Items like non-perishable food, hygiene products, and letters were boxed up.

First time volunteer, Heather Yarrington, says it's a small act of kindness that goes a long way.

"There are men and women who don't get anything, and don't have anyone back home that they know miss them. So it gives them something to fight for."

A total of 52 boxes were packaged up.

Most of them will be sent to remote areas in the Middle East.
