Mayor Cedric Glover has released a statement saying the City is prepared to help Libby Glass workers transition back into the workforce.
Glover made the comment Thursday after learning that the company would lay off 200 employees.
Glover said, "Libbey Glass is an integral part of Shreveport and I know this is not an easy time for its management and staff. But we believe there will be legitimate opportunities for these highly trained and motivated workers to land new jobs."
Glover said the City will also consider hosting a job fair featuring established companies as well as some of the recently announced companies that are moving large operations to Shreveport.
