A Texarkana man who allegedly raped a nine-year-old was back in court Tuesday for a pretrial hearing.

The child's mother says George Cheatham, who lived in the same apartment complex, offered to watch her son while she was away.

The boy then told a family member that between Oct. 2011 and Nov. 2012 Cheatham sexually assaulted him.

A final pretrial hearing is set for April 2.  Jury selection is expected to start two weeks later.

If convicted, Cheatham could face life in prison.
