A Fort Worth native is in Marshall, TX to talk about her journey from not being able to hear most of her life to finally enjoy the sounds of nature and music.
Sarah Churman was deaf for 29 years until she received a rare surgery in 2011,that involved installing implants in both of her ears.
Churman said she has always felt incomplete, not being able to hear. Now with the new hearing ability, she said it's been difficult for her brain to adjust.
"Things like internal noises, your tongue moving, things like that were just overpowering at first and now they're just background nose, said Churman."
Churman is the author, "Powered On," a book that details her life changing journey. She and several other local authors will host a book signing on Saturday at Books and Java in Marshall Mall from 12 to 2 p.m.
