A group of six local retired school teachers were on the doomed Carnaval Cruise ship, "Triumph" that was left bobbing in the Gulf of Mexico for days.
Ranell McClellan, Sandra Herring, Karen Taylor, Donna McCatherine, Geraldine Schwartz, and Francine Barton decided to take their annual trip on a cruise for the first time. The retired teachers became close friends after working together in the Marshall Independent School District for years.
After hearing the horrible stories on the news, the families of the women are anxiously awaiting their arrival home.
"I didn't think that it would be this difficult for a few days without communication but its been pretty tough," said Gregg McClellan.
McClellan said his wife arrived in New Orleans late Thursday. On Friday, she traveled with her friends on a plane to Houston and then took a bus to Galveston, TX. He expects her to return late Friday night.
