Last Tuesday Shreveport City Council approved $10.5 million for asphalt overlay on 20 projects on mostly main roads.

The money comes from the Streets Special Revenue fund. While it'll work for now, some council members have different opinions on a long term solution.

However, they agree that a plan needs to be in place. The streets will just get worse with cracks and pot holes as money runs out. It'll impact every driver in the city and will continue to cause vehicle damage.

"The choices are really simple. Either try to pay for street repairs a little at a time, or you go or do something through a wide spread program for a long term solution," City Councilman Sam Jenkins said.
