If you want to learn how to handle a gun the right way, the Bossier Sheriff's Office can help.
The department is offering a Handgun Safety and Familiarization class on March 5 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Viking Drive Substation on 2510 Viking Drive.
This will not be a shooting class but the course will familiarize you with how to properly handle your gun.
You may bring your own handgun to the class, but it's not required for attendance. The Bossier Sheriff's Office asks that you make sure your weapon is unloaded and do not bring any ammunition.
The class is free, limited to 30 people and open to Bossier residents 21 years of age and older.
Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at (318) 965-3525 to register.
