An Atlanta man who fled the state after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a Shreveport business is now behind bars.

William Hill, 49, was extradited to Louisiana on Friday on a felony theft warrant obtained by the Caddo Sheriff's Office.

Hill is accused of using a check fraud scheme to purchase nearly $40,000 in gold from Louisiana Gold and Jewelry.  He then sold the gold for cash and gambled with the money at local casinos.

Hill was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center after being picked up by the Caddo Sheriff's Office Warrant's Division in Las Vegas.  His bond is set at $100,000.
