In the final minute of a tightly contested ballgame between Central Arkansas and the Northwestern State women, the NSU men rallied together to back the ladies.
With under 30 seconds to play, Central Arkansas was down one-point with their best free-throw shooter at the line. That's when the NSU men decided to join the Demon band and student section behind the backboard to make Prather Coliseum a noisy venue.
The plan worked.
Nursing a 48-47 the Sugar Bears retained possession and 79 percent free throw shooter Courtney Duever drew a foul on the inbounds play, but missed the front side of a 1-and-1 opportunity with NSU's Bradley rebounding and getting fouled.
Up until the missed free throw, Duever had made eight consecutive free throws.
NSU will play three times on the road, beginning Thursday at Southeastern Louisiana, before its next homecourt appearance Feb. 23 in a non-conference game against New Orleans.
