Robotic catapults challenge local students

The Bossier Civic Center was filled with hundreds of students all competing for the title of robotics champion.
The fourth annual Regional Robotics Circuit event featured students from 4th to 8th grades.
This year's event focused on the concept of catapulting.
After months of research and building a robotic catapult, each team came today to prove their creation was the best.
Director, Paul Spivey, says it's always fun to watch the teams learn.
"There's valuable skills," said Spivey. "There's six to a team so they're learning teamwork, how to work together to solve a complex problem and learning the program. We couldn't be more excited to have these schools involved, and to just show the kids are here for the challenge."
This year, more than 100 teams from 130 elementary schools participated.
Each was judged on multiple categories including catapult accuracy and distance.
