Shreveport Police are continuing their search for a person who allegedly fell into the Red River after being hit by a train.

K-9's are also assisting authorities as they comb the shores of the river looking for any signs of the missing person.

Witnesses called police around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday night saying someone had been hit by a Kansas City Southern train and may have fallen into the water.

The train's operator told authorities he believes he hit at least one person while going over the downtown railroad bridge.

Meanwhile, Shreveport Fire officials called off their search earlier this afternoon.

We will provide updates through out the day online, as the search resumes.
