Its one of the only sandbars along the Red River. A place where people can sit and enjoy the outdoors. City council members want to make it safer for the public and their families. The speed limit on the sandbar was ten miles per hour, but some weren`t following the rules. That was enough to prompt city council to a make a change. Vehicles and ATVs will no longer be allowed to drive on the sandbar. Some of those who use the beach don`t think the decision is fair. "Its a lot easier if you can turn your vehicle around. Back it up right to the lake set up your little camp site right here." City council members say they are working on trying to make the sandbar more accessible to pedestrians. At todays city council meeting the mayor also talked about possibly building restrooms at the sandbar in the future.
