Pancakes and charity go hand-in-hand, at least at one Bossier City breakfast spot.  For the past several years, the IHOP on Airline Dr. has helped raise money for our local Shriner's Hospital by giving away free pancakes.  The money helps sick children by giving away free pancakes.  It's a great concept that really works.

"We prepare for usually the busiest day of the year," said Ray Moore, IHOP Gen. Manager.

"Nothing better than free pancakes," said Denise Robinson, customer.

IHOP just hopes in return customers will make a donation to Shriner's Hospital for Children.  The money you give stays local to help children.

"They offer care for children with orthopedic, severe burns, spinal cord, cleft lip and palette, things of that nature... The first Shriner's Hospital was right here in Shreveport. We help these kids without regard of their ability to pay," said Fred Gregory, Shriner's.

Shriner members are happy to see folks give what they can.

"We depend on individuals - five and ten dollar, one dollar donations - without those we could not continue to exist," said Gregory.

The store's general manager, Ray Moore, is just happy to give back --- not just to Shriner's --- but also to his customers.

"It's a great feeling to give back to the community because they're the ones who come in every day, every week and dine in with us," said Moore.

IHOP is serving free short stacks until 10 P.M. Tuesday.
