The Mardi Gras parades grow bigger and bigger each year thanks to local support and heavy tourism.

From King Cakes, to parades, to even the gas people spend to visit...it all adds up.

"Mardi Gras has an estimated 17 to 32 million dollar economic impact in Shreveport-Bossier," Chris Jay with the Tourist Bureau said.

Local business and hotels also thrive from out of town guests.

"It's always nice to have high demand. They'll eat at the restaurant and drink in the lounge," Holiday Inn downtown Shreveport GM Lance Fouts said.
