A local librarian is being honored by Shreve Memorial Library as part of Black History month.

A meeting room at Mavice Colley Wallette Library will be named after Mrs. Otis Whiten Emanuel.

On Monday, Feb. 4 the Library Board of Control will declare and dedicate the room in Emanuel's honor during a special ceremony at 5 p.m. at the branch on 363 Hearne Avenue.

Emanuel was the first professional African-American librarian at what was formerly called the Shreve Memorial Library Lakeside Branch during the 50's and is a major supporter of Shreve Memorial Library today.
